Week 5: Perception and Organisations

Perception
-Perception in typography deals with the visual navigation and interpretation of the reader via contrast, form, and organisation of the content. Content can be textual, visual, graphical, or in the form of color.

Contrast
  • Light/ Bold
  • Condense/ Extended
  • Organic/ Machined
  • Roman/ Italic
  • Small/ Large
  • Negative/ Positive
  • Serif/ Sans Serif
  • Ornate/ Simple
  • Red/ Blue
Form
- For refers to the overall look and feel of the elements that make up the typographic composition. It is the part that plays a role in visual impact and first impressions. A good form in typography tends to be visually intriguing to the eye; it leads the eye from point to point, entertains the mind, and is most often memorable.
  1. To represent a concept
  2. To do so in a visual form
Gestalt
-Gestalt theory emphasizes that the whole of anythinf=g is greater than its part- this is based on the idea that we experience things as a unified whole: Instead of breaking down thoughts and behavior to their smallest elements, the Gestalt psychologists believed that you must look at the whole of experience.
  1. Law of Similarity
  2. Law of proximity
  3. Law of Closure
  4. Law of Continuation
  5. Law of symmetry
  6. Law of Simplicity(Praganz)
  7. .....

Reflection:
Experience:
Overall from this task experience was quite excited me and I feel not satisfied yet. The most fun part was finding what company that my name can connect with. It was quite a struggle at the first because I can't relate any occupation with my name, so I decided to try the layout first then make my own decision.

Observation:
As usual, though this whole process I feel that my classmate was actually awesome. Their work was really stunning and inspired me. For the key artwork, I have done much research but I still need to say that create a key artwork that using your own name is still a challenging task but enjoyable.

Findings:
After this task, I need to concentrate on how I gonna pass a message in my own design and how to gonna make the audience/ client more satisfied with it.
